structure of mind

I have questions. I recently read a quote
from William James.

"Our normal waking consciousness, rational consciousness as
we call it, is butone special type of consciousness, whilst all
about it, parted from it by thef ilmiest of screens, there lie
potential forms of consciousness entirelydifferent."

I am basing some work on this quote. I seem to detect the actions
of these other 'subconscious-helpers'. I reason that my senses,
as they come to me are pre-processed. I get 'intuitive-flashes'
via a 'mailbox' (with flag).

Do you feel or reason out these same actions from your
subconscious ? Has this quote from James been proven
wrong?
